An EEA national shall have the right of residence exceeding ninety days within a one hundred and eighty day period if he/she:
  • plans to pursue gainful employment or,
  • has sufficient resources for him/herself and his/her family members to not to become an unreasonable burden on the social security system of Hungary during the period of their stay, and have comprehensive sickness insurance cover for healthcare services as prescribed in specific other legislation, or if he/she assures to have sufficient resources for such services as required by statutory provisions; or
  • who has been admitted to an educational establishment for the purpose of pursuing his / her studies and has sufficient resources throughout his / her stay and is entitled to health insurance services.

EEA citizen: a citizen of a Member State of the European Union other than a Hungarian citizen and a state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein).
