An interim permanent residence permit may be issued to a third-country national (conditions):

  • holding an EC residence permit certifying long-term residence status granted by any Member State of the European Union; and who plans to reside in the territory of Hungary
    • for the purpose of gainful activity or employment, with the exception of seasonal employment;
    • for the pursuit of studies or vocational training; or
    • who plans to stay in the territory of Hungary for other purposes;
  • who has a place of abode in the territory of Hungary and whose subsistence is ensured;
  • who has comprehensive healthcare insurance or sufficient financial resources for healthcare services;


The application for interim permanent residence permit is to be submitted at the branch of the regional directorate of the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing responsible for the place where the applicant’s future Hungarian residence is located.
